De Havilland Pant
SKU: 30009-TM-S
Late-season, highly durable and warm hunting pant worn in cold conditions with versatility into extreme cold conditions when paired with base layer and mid layer bottoms.
Not all pants are created equal, especially when put to the test of backcountry hunting. The De Havilland Pant is built with our innovative and patented Contour Waist™️ System, which allows the user to instantly adjust the waist size of the pant (up to 3”) for an exact fit while making in-field layering adjustments. Unlike other adjustable waist systems, the Contour Waist functions without the bunching of material at the hips which causes discomfort under the waist belt of a heavy pack. Add extra long side zips for venting in hot weather or high exertion situations, and a 4-way stretch, highly breathable and weather resistant textile and the De Havilland Pant quickly becomes a mountain hunters favorite. An athletic fit and articulated knees that are kneepad compatible are just icing on the cake.

Our innovative Contour Waist™ System is designed specifically for increased comfort and performance when backpacking. Our goal was to eliminate bulk and allow an exact fit around the waist to reduce hot-spots on the hips as a result from miles hiked wearing a tightly cinched waist belt. By minimizing the materials needed for belt loops, removing snaps and buttons, and incorporating our micro-adjust zipper fly, the Contour Waist System provides unparalleled comfort and a 100% custom fit, unlike any other pant system.
The Stratum™ Layered Zipper System is an innovative feature found on all Stone Glacier pants and bottoms. This unique system allows the wearer to vent their layers all the way to the skin for unprecedented temperature regulation without requiring the repetitive addition and removal of layers throughout the day. Increase warmth by keeping all the zippers closed during extended glassing sessions and unzip to quickly ventilate and dump heat during periods of high exertion. No matter the situation, the Stratum™ Layered Zipper System makes temperature regulation easier than ever.

Stone Glacier products are designed with an athletic fit to provide the highest level of performance in the field. Use the sizing chart below to help guide you to the appropriately sized garment. Note, the De Havilland Pants incorporate our patented Contour™ Waist System which provides approximately 3 inches of waist adjustment to create an exact fit.
How to Find Your Measurements:
Note: Calculate your body measurements, then select your product size. If your measurements are between sizes, select a larger size for a looser fit or a smaller size for a tighter fit.
- Measured Chest: With arms relaxed at your sides, measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
- Measured Sleeve: With arm relaxed at your side and slightly bent, measure from center back neck, across the shoulder to elbow and down to the wrist.
- Measured Belt Line: Measure around your waist at the point in which your pants typically ride.
- Measured Inseam: From a standing position, measure from your crotch down the inside leg to the floor.
Nearly all Stone Glacier pants feature our patented Contour Waist™ system, which allows for three inches of waist adjustment. Additionally, SG pants are sized accordingly for layering. If you wear a large in our base layers, you will also wear a large in other SG layers. If you are still unsure of what size pants to buy, measure your waist and reference the "Measured Belt Line" chart below.
Proper Fit & Use:
Our patented Contour Waist™ System is designed to provide an exact fit around your waist. No more buying pants that are slightly too large or don’t fit quite right. As well, this system allows you to adjust the waist size of your pants to allow for a proper fit when layering base layers or insulation bottoms underneath. To adjust the Contour Waist, follow the below steps:
Note: Proper fit is best achieved by adjusting the Contour Waist while wearing the pants.
- Unfasten the top buckle attachment and unzip the zipper fly.
- While the zipper fly is unzipped, detach the left side (left as when the wearer is looking down on the zipper fly) of the zipper from the hook and loop pad by pulling it down and away, starting at the top.
- Reattach the zipper fly to the hook and loop pad by starting at the bottom and pressing it firmly and evenly up towards the top. Attaching the zipper at a steeper angle to the left, will adjust the pants smaller. Attaching the zipper further to the right will adjust the pants larger.
- Once the zipper is reattached, zip up the fly as normal and fasten the top buckle, adjusting tension as necessary. Repeat steps 3 & 4 until the proper fit is achieved.
- Once you find your proper fit the zipper fly will work as normal and adjustment does not need to be made again until required when layering or as desired.
Gloves
Use the larger of the two measurements below to select your glove size. If you fall between sizes, we suggest you choose the larger size for comfort and increased warmth, especially in the Altimeter Glove and Mitt.
How to Find Your Measurements:
- Hand Circumference: Measure around your dominant hand at the knuckles (do not include your thumb).
- Hand Length: Measure from the crease at the base of your hand and wrist to the end of your middle finger.

LOUD!!
I like the pants for multiple reasons: 1.) The colour is perfect for fall in Alberta. I've seen the colour vanish before my eyes with my friends coat in the same colour. 2.) The pockets are well laid out and easy to find things in them without looking. 3.) They are comfortable, excellent at regulating a person's temp with the dump zippers and the knee pads are perfect. HOWEVER!! 1.) These pants are loud! These pant would distract a teenager on their phone - that's how loud. I've tried washing them to soften them up, worn them any chance I have had - nothing. As loud as the day I got them shipped. I noticed one person commented and how they were surprised that there wasn't more comments regarding the loudness of the pants - I agree 100%. 2.) I also found the pants snag and tear easily. A thorn bush caused the material to tear easily which was rather shocking. 3.) If an elastic like material inside the pant (I think they're called shirt stays?) to prevent shirts easily pulled out or you pantsfall down easily with weight of the pack. I had to pull up my pants with the hip belt undone to re-tuck my shirt was annoying.
De Havilland
Wasn’t sure what to expect from SG gear, and got my first pair of pants. Absolutely blown away with the quality and features. The waist adjustment system is a neat approach and solution, relatively eliminating a need for a belt. No rear pocket zippers is a nice change. Recently picked up the knee pads and these are the go to for shooting competitions now.
Great Fit, Design & Appeared Quality. Tarmac is green - not brown. Loud. Not fleece lined.
Great Fit, Design & Appeared Quality. I'm always somewhere from 32x32 to 34x32 in pants. The M/L size was spot on in fit. So if you're that size go M/L and you can adjust the build in contour zipper of belt. The Tarmac is green - not brown. Which is fine but it definitely doesn't look as pictured. My wife confirmed. Loud out of the package - but probably durable. They likely will break in and be quieter but it's on the loud side of all the pants I've tried. The hip vent zipper is awesome, albeit I think it wouldn't hurt anything for them to have 2" shorter so the lower one is still accessible with gaiters on. One thing I didn't expect was that it was not fleece lined like the De Havilland Jacket. That's my fault as I just assumed they were the same material (same name?). They seem like great pants but I might have to return as I was hoping for something with a really light fleece backer to get me down into the single digits.
